About Madayipara
Madayipara is a broad laterite plateau near Pazhayangadi, north of Kannur. For most of the year it is a dry, flat tableland, but in the weeks after the monsoon it fills with grass and small wildflowers, and becomes a favourite of birdwatchers and photographers.
The plateau also holds real history: the Madayikavu temple, the remains of an old fort, and an ancient pond all sit on it, alongside sites tied to the region's past. It rewards an unhurried, curious visit.
